A Tad Excessive?

So when you get your new credit card, do you take the old one and

1. Cut it up, making certain to
a. cut the signature into at least three pieces, and
b. cutting the numbers in half across before cutting them into pieces; then

2. Carefully divide the resulting bits into two piles that are each missing key pieces, then

3. Throw out half the pieces in one week's rubbish; and

4. Throw out the other half two weeks later when there is no chance some weirdo can ever put them back together.

The chance that's not a tad excessive?

It could be construed as a tad excessive.

Have you ever used your credit card to... you know... buy stuff? If so, your details are already out there and your card can be hacked just as easily as if they plucked it out of your wallet.

I do all the same cutting tricks, but when it comes to putting it into the bin, I've never throught of separating it.

I just put all the tiny bits into a used nappy.

Heh heh.

I'd be outrageously happy if BOTH the adults in our house were of the view that the credit facility is not for us, got a debit account with a BUDGET, and cut all credit cards up in the fashion you described. Or ANY fashiion, really.
I don't care. It would just be the best thing EVAH.
